Radiohead’s Grammy Thoughts Shaped By The Simpsons

Jonny Greenwood reveals all

The Grammy Awards took place this weekend, with Radiohead scooping a gong for Best Alternative Album for the choose-your-price In Rainbows.

However, speaking before the ceremony, guitarist Jonny Greenwood revealed that he was somewhat bemused as to how significant the whole caboodle actually is. "I’m confused, because whenever I watch The Simpsons, they’re very rude about the Grammys," he told the Associated Press. "It’s hard to know how important they are!"

Greenwood also got caught up on a frightfully English way when it came to trying to explain how ambitious Radiohead may or may not be. "It’s a big paradox for us. We’re sort of ambitious, but maybe not ambitious enough," he said. "You hear some bands saying they want to be the biggest they want to be the greatest. We do and we don’t.

"We don’t and then we see other bands doing really well, and then we say, ‘We should be doing some of that, we should be a little bit like that’."
