Bob Fass Doc Screening This Weekend

Hackney Picturehouse to show Radio Unnameable film about legendary late-night DJ this Sunday

On Sunday, June 23, In The Dark will be putting on a special screening of Radio Unnameable, the excellent feature-length documentary about freeform radio pioneer Bob Fass.

After first taking to the airwaves in 1963, Fass has broadcast his show, which gives the documentary its title, regularly from New York radio station WBAI, presiding over a spontaneous mix of conversation, music and call-ins. Additionally, he’s had an impressive list of names stop by the show over its 50-year lifespan, including Bob Dylan, Yoko Ono and Allen Ginsberg. As well as shadowing Fass as he presents his show currently, the documentary also draws on interviews with his peers and archived audio, film and photography.

The screening begins at 7pm and will be followed by a DJ set from the Fass-inspired NTS Radio hosts. Have a watch of the trailer above and head over to Hackney Picturehouse’s site to get hold of tickets.
