Our Christmassy Quietus Social is next Wednesday, and we have Our New Favourite Band playing.
VÄLVĒ is Chlöe Herington of the mighty Chromehoof on vocals, bassoon and various saxophones, electronics and homemade instruments, Elen Evans on harp and vocals, and Emma Sullivan on bass, microkorg and vocals. Their new EP is a thing of lo-fi avant-garde creepy-twanging-bass elegant beauty, with whiffs of “klezmer Joy Division with a vocoder” and “Chorlton & The Wheelies meets Chris & Cosey”. It is fantastic.
We’ve also got Evangeline and David of Audiobooks DJing and some of us from The Quietus office playing mainly Gwen Guthrie and Planningtorock.
