Pulp have announced their first new album in almost 24 years, titled More.
Taking in 11 tracks, the album was produced by James Ford and recorded over a three-week period from November into December 2024 at Orbb Studio in Walthamstow, London. It follows 2001’s We Love Life, which was Pulp’s final album before they initially split in 2002.
In a statement explaining how More came about, Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker said: “When we started touring again in 2023, we practiced a new song called ‘Hymn Of The North’ during soundchecks and eventually played it at the end of our second night at Sheffield Arena. This seemed to open the floodgates: we came up with the rest of the songs on this album during the first half of 2024
“A couple are revivals of ideas from last century. The music for one song was written by Richard Hawley. The music for another was written by Jason Buckle. The Eno family sing backing vocals on a song. There are string arrangements written by Richard Jones and played by the Elysian Collective.”
Cocker added that the album was dedicated to Steve Mackey, the band’s bassist who passed away in March 2023.
To mark the announcement of the record, Pulp have shared a video for lead single ‘Spike Island’, which you can watch below.
Rough Trade will release More on June 6, 2025.
