After his buzz-generating ‘Hit and Run’ tour came to the UK last year for a selection of last minute shows at intimate venues, Prince is looking set to return to the UK and Europe for a series of more stripped back live show, without his current band, 3RDEYEGIRL.
As TLOBF reports, a new series of shows will see Prince perform solo with a piano and a microphone in what is being billed, rather simply, as ‘The Prince Spotlight: Piano & A Microphone’ tour. The tour will reportedly kick off in Vienna and will take in four UK shows in Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham and London, as well as gigs in Barcelona on December 13 and Brussels on December 22, among other European cities.
The news apparently leaked during one of the singer’s parties at his Paisley Park Studios in the US over the weekend where Prince played a solo set with his piano. El Pais reports that Prince told reporters there that the performances will be “more naked, more pure”. Full details are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks with Prince often revealing information about live shows at very short notice.
