After some delays, Prince’s Paisley Park Estate is now open as a museum to the public.
As Billboard reports, the Chanhassen City Council in Minneapolis voted unanimously last night (October 24) to rezone Prince’s home and studio, allowing the building to be opened to the public for museum tours for the foreseeable future.
Tours had taken place intermittently in recent weeks but some complications in the process to allow the building official museum status had hindered plans. Visits start up again from this Friday (October 28) and bookings are now being taken through to December of this year with tours in 2017 expected to go on sale next month as the Paisley Park website points out.
Many of the rooms at Paisley Park have been preserved in the state in which they were left before Prince’s death earlier this year of an accidental drug overdose. A collection of memorabilia will be on display including handwritten notes, awards and costumes from across his career. 600,000 visitors are expected to the museum each year.
