The 1979 version of Prince's classic 'I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man' will feature on the super deluxe edition of his 'Sign O' The Times' album

The Prince Estate has shared a previously unreleased recording of Prince’s classic track, ‘I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man’.

The recording dates back to 1979 and was recorded at Hollywood Sound Recorders. It was initially recorded during sessions for Prince’s self-titled 1979 album, and was later re-recorded in 1986 before finally appearing on Sign O’ The Times. You can hear the 1979 recording above.

‘I Could Never Take Place Of Your Man (1979 Version)’ will be included on the forthcoming super deluxe edition of Prince’s 1987 double album, Sign O’ The Times, which will be released by Warner on September 25, 2020.
