Prince To Release Two New Albums In Sept

Prince is releasing not one but two albums on September 29 – a solo album called Art Official Age and Plectrumelectrum with his current band 3rdEyeGirl.

The albums will be released via Warner Bros. Records – his home during his imperial period that saw him release Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain and Sign O’The Times. The living funk legend resigned with the major in April of this year and this kick-started a flurry of activity including plans to reissue Purple Rain, a new single called ‘The Breakdown’ as well as these two new albums. Prince had a major falling out with the label 18 years ago over ownership of his master recordings – the rights over which have now been returned to him.

Those who pre-order will get access to new music immediately and a series of "very special" global events to celebrate the releases will be announced soon.

Here is what Prince’s camp have to say about the album: "ART OFFICIAL AGE is a classic Prince album, produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince and Joshua Welton (@joshuaworld). Sonically the record is a contemporary concoction of soul, R&B and funk. The melodies are immediate and prominent as ever and Prince’s vocals are rich and solid, taking full advantage of his vocal range with decidedly, seductive lyrics."
