Prince Estate Announces 1999 Reissue Box Set

It takes in 35 previously unreleased tracks as well as well as a DVD featuring footage of Prince around the time of the album's original release

Prince’s 1982 album 1999 is set to be reissued as part of a new expansive box set.

The release will take in 5 CDs and 10 12" records as well as a DVD. It features a remastered version of the album itself alongside a selection of 12" mixes, 7" edits and various promo-only releases, while there are also 35 previously unreleased tracks spread out across the release.

There’s also live footage and recordings of Prince including a 1982 show Detroit and a concert film of another show in Houston that same year. The material featured was all recorded between 1981 and 1983.

The reissue will be available in three versions: one featuring the remastered album on CD and vinyl, another featuring select bonus material across two CDs and four LPs and, finally, the full release including the DVD, 10 LPs and five CDs.

It’s out on November 29 and you can find more information here.
