Primavera Sound Cancels 2021 Edition

Ongoing uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the Barcelona festival to postpone its next event to 2022

Barcelona festival Primavera Sound has postponed its next edition to June 2022.

Originally set to take place from June 2 to 6, this year’s festival cannot go ahead "due to the legal framework for large events on the original dates of the festival," reads a statement posted earlier today.

Primavera Sound joins a number of early summer festivals, including Glastonbury, in postponing events to 2022 due to the ongoing uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, with sufficient rollout of vaccines not expected to come in time to make a number of events possible.

Primavera is now looking ahead to next year’s edition, with the first lineup announcement scheduled for June 2, the day this year’s event would have started. Like last year, ticket holders will have the option to roll their tickets over to 2022.
