Trampling on clichés as she’s wont to do, self-styled ‘tourette-y’ scribe Julie Burchill told a packed tent at this year’s Latitude
festival that she’s always got on very well with PRs, thank you very much. ‘Never met a bad one’, she said to a stunned crowd who no-doubt assumed they were mould spores on the very soul of humanity. And true to what Burchill said – that they’re lovely people with record collections just as large as ours – one of the UK’s independent music PR companies is turning altruistic in aid of the Pakistan flood appeal.
Like it or not, Anorak PR have gained exposure for Foals, The Drums, Everything Everything, Micachu, Tame Impala, of Montreal, Mount Kimbie, Besnard Lakes, The Invisible, The Walkmen and Ungdomskulen. And now they’re offering to do the same for you. Donate £100 to their Oxfam Pakistan Flood Appeal and they’ll put your name in a hat. The winner, drawn on Sept 1, will then win the full PR treatment, which includes a national press, online, TV and radio campaign. And as well as gaining access to more music industry contacts than you can fit in Obama’s roll-dex, you’ll be benefiting a very noble cause. Go here to find out more.
