The career-spanning 'King Scratch (Musical Masterpieces From The Upsetter Ark-ive)' compilation will mark the first anniversary of the dub and reggae icon's death

A posthumous compilation of classic tracks by Lee "Scratch" Perry is set to be released next month.

King Scratch (Musical Masterpieces From The Upsetter Ark-ive) will arrive shortly after the first anniversary of the dub and reggae pioneer’s death. It marks the first major posthumous release of Perry’s music, and will be made available digitally, as well as on CD and in a 4xLP box set. The latter will come with an illustrated book featuring an essay by Perry biographer David Katz.

The box set also a number of rare and unreleased DJ mixes by Perry, while the standard double-CD and vinyl editions will include a more stripped back tracklist of classic works by the artist. You can listen to Perry’s 7-inch mix of ‘Jungle Lion’, a track made with The Upsetters and set to feature on the release, above.

Trojan Records will release King Scratch (Musical Masterpieces From The Upsetter Ark-ive) on August 2, 2022.
