Porcelain Raft has announced the release of his debut album early next year. Italian-born Mauro Remiddi’s Strange Weekend will be released through Secretly Canadian on 23rd January 2012.
He’s made an advance track from the album available. ‘Put Me To Sleep’ is appropriately titled, and seems a fair indicator of what the rest of the record is likely to sound like. It’s slow, pretty, soporific dream-pop that recalls eighties forebears (Cocteau Twins spring to mind) as much as it does Remiddi’s vintage camera swinging contemporaries.

Early next year around the album’s release, Mr. Raft is due to tour the UK with M83, whose sound circa-Saturdays=Youth is another good reference point for Remiddi’s own music.
