The organisers of Berlin’s Pop-Kultur have revealed further details on this year’s ‘Commissioned Works’ programme which sees some of the acts on the lineup present special one-off performances for the festival.
The likes of ABRA, Darkstar & Cieron Magat and Balbina are all preparing specially commissioned performances to be debuted at the festival in August. Andreas Dorau will team up with a number of guests to present a show featuring 20 specially composed refrains across 40 minutes, while Circuit Des Yeux will work with a cast of collaborators to create an anechoic chamber or literal ‘Big Black Box’ in the middle of the festival grounds.
Evvol’s set will look for answers to the question: what do immigration, incarceration and subjugation provoke in people far from their native countries. Their show will be titled ‘Human Resonance’.
Also performing at the festival are Liars, Anna Meredith, Shirley Collins & Ian Keary, IDLES, Noveller, Little Simz, GAIKA and more. Pop-Kultur takes place across a number of Berlin locations from August 23-25. For more information, click here.
