Next month sees the second birthday of techno night Individual Collective and the team behind the night is bringing a stellar line-up to London’s Corsica Studios for eight hours of storming techno.
Among the acts playing on the night are Kangding Ray, Powell, Ancient Methods, Broken English Club, Bintus and more. The night will also see an exclusive back-to-back set from Ancient Methods and Powell.
You can get final release tickets here but to whet your appetites, you can check out a selection of picks from the night’s talent below in our handy playlist feature.
Kangding Ray picks Steve Moore – ‘Zero-Point Field’ (L.I.E.S)
"I love all his ambient and synth works, but this release from 2010 on L.I.E.S brought his unique melodic sense to the dance floor, both tracks are immense."
Ancient Methods picks Black Kolor – ‘Skele Ton (Schwefelgelb Remix)’ (Basic Unit Productions)
" Old School yet effective."
Eomac picks Room 506 – ‘Drop Out’ (Room 506)
" I heard Tommy 47 play it recently in Paris, and I immediately went up to him to ask him what it was. It’s all about the vocal. There’s so much dull, disengaged electronic music around at the moment, that it’s nice when something grabs you and engages you straight away, which this track did. "
Broken English Club: picks GOD – ‘Pretty’ (Caroline/Virgin)
" There’s so much that’s influenced me, but it felt right that I ended up with this track, it’s something I was really into when it came out in 1992. It had Justin Broadrick in it, who has been involved in so much influential music for me, like Napalm Death and Godflesh. It also had John Zorn, who is a total genius.
"It has a very swans style feel with heavy tribal drums, and the sax sounds push it to another level! "
Raime picks This Heat – ’24 Track Tape Loop (Piano) ’
"Stone cold classic, always in the box. Any genre description doesn’t do it justice. Re-issue has just come out. Buy it, don’t think, just buy it."
Bintus picks Round 1 – ‘Roxanne Shante vs Sparky Dee’ (Spin Records)
"Raw as it gets. This track more than speaks for itself and I pine to hear this kind of stuff in clubs. It was no biggie to play Hip Hop alongside Acid house and techno when I was first going out. I have a large collection of ’83 – ’86 Hip Hop. Anyone want to book me for a 2 hour set of this kind of stuff? Fine, I’ll carry on making tapes for the car. Your loss."
Billy Allen picks Rabit – ‘Tearz’ (Different Circles)
" Eric Burton a.k.a Rabit had a fantastic year in 2015. His debut album, Communion, was one of the highlights of the year but it was Eric’s contribution to a split release on Mumdance and Logos’ label that has really been getting a lot of play for me. Grimey, moody and nostalgic."
Keylen picks Rian Traenor – ‘A1’ (Death of Rave)
"Mancunian-based Conor Thomas’ Death Of Rave imprint is simply one of my favourite record labels. This track quietly goes about it’s business as a perfect start, middle, or end of set vibe-r. Short and sweet, it’ll have the heads queueing up to find out who made it no more than a minute in."
