LISTEN: Stream Plastikman’s New LP

EX released digitally today ahead of Sónar appearance

Plastikman, aka Richie Hawtin, is streaming his new album EX, in full – have a listen above. His first since 2003’s Closer, the album is available digitally now and is set for physical release on July 14 via Mute/Minus. Hawtin will be premiering the new material during an exclusive performance at Sónar Festival on Friday, June 12, which is set to be his only live appearance of the year.

EX was recorded live at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, during his performance at an annual fundraising event. Hawtin was invited to play at the event by Raf Simons, director of Dior, and performed around a specially constructed LED obelisk. "The music came out of me effortlessly," said Hawtin describing his Guggenheim performance. "I was very inspired by the opportunity to play in this beautiful architectural space renowned more for art than music."

To see Hawtin and his specially constructed LED obelisk in the flesh, get on down to Sónar. Failing that, grab a copy of EX here.
