Plastikman Announces New Live Album EX

Guggenheim-recorded album due out digitally next week to coincide with Sonar

Minimal techno pioneer Richie Hawtin will be releasing his new album EX via Mute, his first under his Plastikman alias since 2003’s Closer. The album will be available digitally on June 10, two days before he closes the Thursday night of this year’s Sonar Festival. Hardcore fans will have to will until July 14 for the release of vinyl, CD and limited edition SubPac bundles (which include the album on vinyl with a custom Plastikman edition of the Subpac S1 bass system). Take a look at an album trailer above.

EX was recorded live at the Guggenheim at the Guggenheim Art Museum in New York, in a fundraiser for the museum and performed around a "specially constructed LED obelisk". Hawtin will be performing and premiering new tracks at a one-off show at this year’s Sonar festival in Barcelona on June 12, promising "a synchronicity of art and sound, a place for electronica that’s both cinematic and thought-provoking.
