PJ Harvey has shared details of a new album, I Inside The Old Year Dying.
Spanning 12 tracks, the record was made together with her long-time collaborators, Flood and John Parish, with initial ideas coming together across three weeks after an extended period away from writing and touring that followed the album cycle for Harvey’s last record, 2016’s The Hope Six Demoltion Project. In that time away, she focused instead on soundtrack work, a book of poetry and a reissue project involving all of her past albums.
In a statement, Harvey said I Inside The Old Year Dying offers "a resting space, a solace, a comfort, a balm – which feels timely for the times we’re in. I think the album is about searching, looking – the intensity of first love, and seeking meaning." You can watch a video for lead track ‘A Child’s Question, August’ above.
Partisan Music will release I Inside The Old Year Dying on July 7, 2023.
