Pixies Revisit 2004 Brixton Shows With New Box Set

'Live In Brixton' collects the band's four Brixton Academy shows which marked the end of an 11-year hiatus

Pixies are releasing a new box set, which collects recordings of their four reunion shows at London’s Brixton Academy in 2004.

Due out early next year in both vinyl and CD editions, Live In Brixton includes live versions of songs from Doolittle and Surfer Rosa, as well as covers of Neil Young’s ‘Winterlong’, The Jesus And Mary Chain’s ‘Head On’ and Peter Ivers’ ‘In Heaven’, among performances of other cuts from the band’s discography. The recordings of all four shows have been newly mastered especially for the release.

The 2004 reunion shows marked the first time the band had performed together in the UK following an 11-year hiatus, and the Live In Brixton box set marks the first time recordings from the four shows will be officially available. Alongside the recordings, the set includes a 24-page booklet – which features photographs and new artwork, along with various memories and paraphernalia from audience members – and a fold-out poster featuring the box set artwork.

Speaking in a new statement about the reunion shows, Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago said: "It was an amazing reception, I guess they had missed us over all those years. I particularly remember getting word that the balcony was swaying, and seeing that the crowd didn’t want to leave long after we had finished the show."

Demon will release Live In Brixton on January 28, 2022.
