Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs have a new album on the way, titled Death Hilarious.
Continuing the band’s longstanding connection with Rocket Recordings, the record features nine tracks. The group’s producer and guitarist, Sam Grant, has said they wanted the album “to be a slap in the face” for its listeners in contrast to the more immersive headphone listening experience of 2023 predecessor Land Of Sleeper.
Speaking further about Death Hilarious, drummer Ewan Mackenzie said it was a response to the “everyone-for-themselves undertones of neoliberalism. There’s a lot more uncertainty and insecurity across society at the moment and, rather than resort to forced optimism, I think it’s important to respond with something that’s real and felt.”
Run The Jewels’ El-P guests on album cut ‘Glib Tongued’, which you can watch a video for below. The song’s unveiling follows on from the release of two other cuts from Death Hilarious: ‘Detroit’ and ‘Stitches’.
Of the latest song to be shared from the album, bassist John-Michael Hedley said: “‘Glib Tongued’ was an idea I’d been sitting on for a few years. It felt like the right time to inject it into Death Hilarious. After bringing it to the table it morphed into something bigger and better than I could have ever imagined. Securing El-P’s services for a verse blew my mind and I feel immensely proud that an idea I’d worked on during an extremely dark time in my life, has flourished into a powerful force for good. I hope.”
Rocket Recordings will release Death Hilarious on April 4, 2025.
