WATCH: Pierre Bastien Short Film

Ahead of a show at Cafe Oto next week, a new short film about Pierre Bastien's work in China has been released

A short film exploring the world of acclaimed French musician and visual artist Pierre Bastien, directed by Mariette Auvray, has been released.

The ten-minute short Impressions de Chine – A portrait of Pierre Bastien follows him as he performs in China for the first time as part of last year’s Tomorrow Festival in Shenzhen.

Through the film, Auvray explores both Bastien’s approach to his stage performance, as well as a taste of his touring life, including outdoor sports with Marc Ribot and Ted Milton.

The film comes ahead of a live London date for Bastien. He plays Cafe Oto as part of the record label Discrepant’s seventh birthday celebrations.

‘7 Years of Discrepancies’ takes place on April 19 and 20, and also features Tasos Stamou, Porest, People Like Us, Kink Gong and Carlos Casas ft. David Toop.
