WATCH: Film Accompanying Front & Follow Compilation

Petrichor is a new film made by Scott Byrne to accompany the new compilation release from Front & Follow

Marking a decade in action with their 50th release last month in the form of a compilation called Lessons, Front & Follow have now shared a film made by Scott Byrne to accompany the release.

Responsible for previous films for Front & Follow act Kemper Norton as well as Exotic Pylon Records, on Petrichor Byrne weaves music from the Lessons compilation with menacing, monochromatic visuals that wrap up a trilogy of films, he says, that included videos made for Kemper Norton’s ‘The Town’ and ‘All Through the Night’. He describes the theme of Petrichor as "that of a life cycle", following a character’s short and often violent existence, much like the life cycle of insects.

Byrne continues: "These pieces employ a high tech / lo-fi aesthetic, creating simple figures in an abstracted space, then using motion capture to give the figures a weight of human movement, creating a pervading sense of unease at the juxtaposition between the two."

Featured in the near six-minute video is music from BLKwBEAR, Swine, TVO, Time Attendant and Howlround – all of their tracks can be found in full on Front & Follow’s Lessons compilation which is out now, and also includes music from Leyland Kirby, Laura Cannell, Pye Corner Audio and many more. You can get the compilation here.
