For Record Store Day, inimitable New York minimalist Peter Zummo’s Lateral Pass is getting re-released by London imprint Foom. The record was previously only available as part of a 2006 CD reissue of Zummo’s debut Zummo With An X, with this first-time vinyl pressing making use of alternate, live recordings made at Battery Sound in New York in 1985, featuring Zummo, along with long-term collaborator Arthur Russell, Guy Kluvecsek, Bill Ruyle and Mustafa Ahmed, performing four tracks, including the original version of Zummo/Russell’s ‘Song IV’.
The 12" release will be followed by a digital edition on June 2, and ahead of both, we’ve got a first play of the record in full – listen above and act sharp to get hold of a copy come Saturday.
