Pet Shop Boys Tease New Song, ‘Cricket Wife’

The almost 10-minute-long song will arrive alongside their new 64-page hardback book, 'Annually 2021'

Pet Shop Boys are releasing a new song, ‘Cricket Wife’, in May.

The track, which clocks in at almost 10 minutes, is set to feature on a CD single that will accompany Annually 2021, the next edition of the duo’s yearly hardback book. The CD will also include a "lockdown version" of their 1984 hit single ‘West End Girls’ which they first shared in June last year.

‘Cricket Wife’, which is described as orchestral, was also made during lockdown, with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe each recording their parts separately at home. The track’s lyrics are taken from a poem previously written by Tennant.

Annually 2021, meanwhile, is spread across 64 pages, and includes a look back at the year of 1986 in the duo’s history, using diary extracts and archival images. Elsewhere in the book, there are details of the duo’s lives in lockdown across the past year, as well as exclusive photography and answers to fan letters. Find more information here.

x2 will release Cricket Wife on May 7, 2021.
