Patti Smith Sings At London Gallery Opening

The mighty Patti Smith made an appearance at the opening of an exhibition of work by her friend Robert Mapplethorpe in London tonight, Tuesday, October 13th.

Smith was present at the Alison Jacques gallery on Berners Street for the opening of Mapplethorpe’s ‘A Season In Hell’ retrospective and sang unaccompanied to the assembled crowd. She dedicated a stunning version of ‘Because The Night’ to her late husband Fred "Sonic" Smith, and you can hear the rather stunning, moving rendition below:
