Patrick Wolf Plans Double Album

Alec Empire joins fop for 2009 double album release

Patrick Wolf has revealed that his next record, to be released in February of next year, will be a double album. Where Wind In The Wires and Lycanthropy worked in two movements, the new record will be a double album of two moods.

Wolf told NME.com that he recorded half of the album with former Atari Teenage Riot man Alec Empire in Berlin. This will be called Battle, an aggressive disc based on a recent tricky time in his life.

"I was having to play songs about a past relationship, I’d been through three management changes, I was breaking up, going insane," he told the website. "I revelled in my depression and began attacking politics and the people around me. It’s an aggressive noise punk record."

By contrast, the second disc will be a far lighter, more uplifting record, again inspired by his own experiences. Says Wolf, "I’ve found my true love, who has practically saved my life.

"That’s in contrast to the inspiration for Battle, which was me thinking, ‘Will I ever be in love again or will I be a bachelor for the rest of my life?’"
