Overmono have released an edit of High Contrast’s 2007 drum & bass classic ‘If We Ever’.

The duo first revealed the edit during their headlining set at Bristol festival Love Saves The Day in May, and it subsequently went viral following its appearance in their headline set on the West Holts stage at Glastonbury. It’s gone on to be a fixture of their live sets through the summer.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 this week, the duo made up of brothers Tom and Ed Russell said: “High Contrast used to work in this record shop in Cardiff called Catapult Records. We lived on the other side of the city, but Tom would go and buy records from him there all the time. I’m pretty sure it was the first record shop I went to after I bought Tom a voucher for his birthday one year.

Tough Guys Don’t Dance was one of those records that was just everywhere – we were all battering it – and ‘If We Ever’ was the anthem. Ahead of summer this year, we started working on our own version of ‘If We Ever’ just for fun, but the reaction was so wild, we ended up playing it in every set.”

‘If We Ever’ is out now on XL Recordings.
