Classic film noir returns to big screen tomorrow

Fans of fiendish plotting, sharp dialogue and coolly rendered erotic obsession should check their local listings from Friday February 24 for a new restoration of Laura, which is screening at select cinemas nationwide and enjoys an extended run at London’s BFI Southbank till March 23.

Directed by Otto Preminger, this stylish 1944 mystery stars Dana Andrews as a hard-boiled New York detective investigating the murder of Gene Tierney’s titular advertising executive. Cue a memorable rogue’s gallery of high society suspects, including a young Vincent Price, all caught up in the doomed femme fatale’s web of intrigue…
