Optimo Returns!

Twitch & Wilkes EPIC COMEBACK this spring

Exciting news for discerning dance enthusiasts everywhere this afternoon: brilliant Scottish night Optimo is to make a comeback at Glasgow’s Sub Club on Friday, April 6th 2012. The good gents of Optimo released the following press statement earlier today:

"It is two years since Optimo decided to end their beloved Sunday night residency, allowing the run-out groove to finally fade on 13 years of legendary partying. It was time to move on. In the intervening years the Optimo team have, between them, undertaken a punishing schedule of touring, production, remixing, composition and label management. The time has allowed them to take their Optimo sound to fans across the world and, as individual artists, to invest in numerous creative projects and collaborations.

"But the decision to make a point of not playing together – to make a clean break from the Optimo brand – was not a popular one amongst the Optimo fans in Glasgow, who began to realise it was easier to see their favourite DJs playing together in London that it was to see them in their home city. Furthermore, it began to dawn on Twitch & Wilkes that they were both missing playing together in their Glasgow home, in the city that made them.

"So the duo have decided to create an event that will allow them to reconnect with their home city, with their fans and friends, and with their spiritual home in The Sub Club. The bi-monthly event will be a chance to see Wilkes & Twitch play purely as OPTIMO, although with the possibility of a special guest or performance at certain future presentations."

And JD Twitch himself added: "After going nearly two years without playing together in Glasgow, bar the odd Halloween or New Year party, we felt it was time to reconnect with the city that gave birth to Optimo. I’ve missed playing, missed seeing a lot of familiar faces and missed that phenomenal Glasgow atmosphere, so am very much looking forward to throwing a handful of Optimo parties in 2012."
