Optimo To Mark 25 Years Since Its First Party With New Compilation

The tracklist for the two-part release, described as "just a snapshot" of the legendary Glasgow parties, is yet to be announced

Optimo, the Glasgow party run by JD Twitch and Jonnie Wilkes, is to mark 25 years since its first event with a new compilation, due out in early 2024.

Optimo 25 ran on Sunday nights at Glasgow’s Sub Club for several years, taking in 550 parties in all. Described in a press release as "a reaction against what felt like an increasingly conservative musical soundtrack in clubs at that time," the parties saw Twitch and Wilkes fold various genres into their musical world, which is is reflected on a compilation that spans ambient, dub, house, post-punk, psych rock and UK garage. The tracklist for the two-part release is yet to be announced, with the press release adding that it is not a "Best of Optimo" or "Greatest Hits of Optimo" compilation, but rather "a snapshot" of what was heard at the parties.

Above Board Projects will release Optimo 25 (Parts 1 & 2) on February 2, 2024.
