Obama Can Change Hip Hop

Common claims the President-elect will influence artists

Chicago based rapper Common claims that hip hop is already changing to reflect the views of the next President of the United States.

In an interview with CNN Common remarked: “I really do believe we as hip hop artists pick up on what’s going on around the world.”

The rapper also suggested that rap would have to start reflecting the positive message that Obama adopted during his presidential campaign, adding: “I think hip hop artists will have no choice but to talk about different things and more positive things.

“Even before Barack, I think people had been tired of hearing the same thing.”
