It has emerged that Oasis apparently did not contribute to the soundtrack for Trainspotting because they thought the film was in fact about train spotters.
As The Telegraph reports, the film’s director, Danny Boyle, wanted the band to do a song for the 1996 film’s soundtrack, which featured music from Blur, Pulp, Lou Reed and more.
However, at a Q&A session earlier this week with the film’s producer, Andrew MacDonald, and costume designer, Rachel Fleming, it was revealed that Noel Gallagher turned the offer down because he did not want any involvement in a film about train spotters.
"Danny is from near Manchester and he was very keen to have Noel Gallagher do something but there was a reason why he didn’t" MacDonald said. "He came to a launch party in Cannes, but I don’t know why he didn’t do a piece of music."
Fleming, following up, said: "I met Noel at a thing the other week and he said to me: ‘I would have done something, but honestly I thought it was about train spotters. I didn’t know.’ That’s what he actually said."
MacDonald also revealed in the Q&A that Lou Reed was not a fan of the film despite his track ‘Perfect Day’ being featured in it.
