Oasis Offer Fans Nearly £1m In Refunds

But Gallagher brothers are hoping they won't cash in cheques

Oasis have refunded their fans nearly £1m following their disastrous gig at Heaton Park last month.

After sound problems blighted their stadium show on June 7, Noel Gallagher told the crowd that "this is a free gig".

And despite later trying to worm out of the offer and describing the 20,000 fans who demanded refunds as "cheeky cunts", he and the band have fulfilled their promise.

The group have sent out thousands of cheques worth approximately £45 along with a letter that reads:""Thank you for your application to receive a payment as a goodwill gesture for the problems experienced at [the Heaton Park] show. Please find attached the cheque in respect of this offer. No further correspondence will be entered in to."

However, the band are are clinging to the hope that the fans will choose to keep the cheques, which are adorned with Noel and Liam’s signatures and a logo stating: "Oasis: Bank of Burnage", rather than cash them in.
