Numero Group Unveils Laraaji Box Set Featuring Early Material

'Segue To Infinity' includes the artist's debut album and three further discs of unreleased material

Numero Group is set to release a 4xLP box set of Laraaji’s earliest material.

Titled Segue To Infinity, the set takes in the US artist’s 1978 debut album, Celestial Vibration, and a further three discs of unreleased early material that was produced at around the same time as that record. The release will also take in never-seen-before photos of Laraaji and liner notes by Numero Group A&R Douglas McGowan and Living Colour guitarist Vernon Reid, who met Laraaji in New York in the ’70s.

The unreleased material featured on Segue To Infinity was discovered by an American student and record collector called Jake Fischer who purchased acetates of the music via eBay in 2021. They were put up for sale after the original seller came across them at a flea market. Fischer made the connection to Laraaji after discovering his birth name, Edward Larry Gordon, on the acetates. You can listen to one of those cuts from the acetates, called ‘Ocean’, above.

Numero Group will release Segue To Infinity on February 10, 2023.
