Nozinja And Daphni For Birthdays Club Night

South African producer Nozinja is set to take over Birthdays in Dalston later this month

Pioneer of the Shangaan electro dance craze that is spreading through South Africa, Nozinja, will be headlining a night at Dalston’s Birthdays, which will be dubbed the Nozinja Lodge for the night on July 12.

Joining Nozinja for a rare London appearance will be Daphni, Dan ‘Caribou’ Snaith’s dance-minded outfit. A long time admirer of Nozinja’s productions, Snaith is releasing the second in a series of Shangaan 12”s – Tshetsha Boys ‘Bafana Bafana’/’Dyambu’ – on his Jiaolong label the same week. Expect some breakneck BPMs, dancefloor craziness and pure soundsystem mania. Tickets are priced at £10 and will be available on the door.

In anticipation of the night, you can polish up on your Shangaan Electro dance moves at a series of workshops that are being held across the UK – dates can be found here – and stay tuned to the site for more coverage of the genre.

You can also take a listen to the super-fast vibraphone stylings of ‘Bafana Bafana’ below:
