Nine Inch Nails-Scored ‘Tron’ Film Gets First Trailer

It marks Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' first soundtrack work together under the band moniker

A first trailer has been publicly shared for Tron: Ares, the forthcoming film which is set to be scored by Nine Inch Nails.

Set to hit cinemas this October, it’s the third film in Disney’s Tron franchise and marks the sequel to 2010’s Daft Punk-scored Tron: Legacy. The forthcoming movie “follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings,” according to a press release.

The film is directed by Joachim Rønning, and stars Evan Peters, Jeff Bridges, Jared Leto and Greta Lee. The latter two actors appear in the trailer, which also includes the first taste of Nine Inch Nails’ soundtrack and can be viewed below.

The group’s music for the film marks their first soundtrack work under the band moniker. Members Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have extensive experience of producing movie scores as a duo, however, having worked on films such as The Social NetworkThe Girl With The Dragon TattooBird Box and Challengers.

Nine Inch Nails’ score for Tron: Ares will mark the first material from the band since the release in 2020 of the fifth and sixth instalments of their Ghosts series. Disney confirmed their involvement in the film during a presentation at a fan club event in California last August.
