Lost In Shadows is the debut album from American composer Ashley Paul released earlier this month by Slip, and built on a personal exploration of recent motherhood through improvisation and various instruments, such as clarinet, saxophone and guitar.
‘Bounce Bounce’ from that album has now been given a fresh update by Factory Floor’s Nik Void, which is premiering above. The remix very much maintains Paul’s multi-instrumental experiments combining remnants of the original with a sludgy, chugging drum loop and murky, buried vocal samples.
The remix’s unveiling comes just ahead of a show by Ashley Paul at London’s Cafe Oto tomorrow (April 12). You can find more information on that and get tickets here.
The album itself was recorded over the course of a three-week residency at FUGA in Zaragoza, Spain, with the time allowing Paul to write music for the first time since the birth of her daughter 11 months earlier. You can purchase the album here.
