Nigerian DJ Obi has broken the record for the world’s longest ever DJ set after putting in a stint of 10 days.
He topped the record by 40 hours following the previous setting of the record of 200 hours by Polish DJ Norbert Selmaj in Dublin in November 2014.
The record is currently in the process of being confirmed by Guinness World Records, but DJ Obi followed the rules set out by the team. As the BBC reports, he was allowed a five-minute break every hour, was unable to repeat a song within four hours of last playing it and had to have someone dancing at all times during the set.
He was also allowed a one-hour break every 12 hours and was frequently checked by doctors and given a boost by vitamin doses. Obi said he fought sleep deprivation by strategically closing his eyes though was not allowed to sleep subject to the rules set out for the record. The record was set at a cafe in Lagos.
