Toydrum are due to release My Eye On You (To Reinvision) this year, which is an album revisiting and reworking the duo’s back catalogue to date. One track featured on the new record is ‘I’ve Got The Future’ as reimagined by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, and above, you can take a first listen of that right now.
"For To Reinvision we let a lot of friends, peers and people we love to work with explore our songs," says James Griffith of the duo. Pablo Clements, the other half of the duo, adds: "Steve Mason, for instance, took an instrumental and, with Tom Gray from Gomez, turned it into a full song. Others took snippets and made whole new tracks from them. We also invited label mates Joel Wells and Abi Wade to cover a song of their choice. It was a green light to do what they wanted."
The album pulls together reworks of material found across two Toydrum albums, Distant Focus Vol. 1 and Evangelist, and also features reworks by Richard Norris, Pye Corner Audio, Steve Mason & Tom Gray and a track with Gavin Clark who passed away in 2015.
The release has already been made available in a limited run at art shows last year, but is now receiving a full and extended release via Skint, with whom the pair have released much of their past material.
