Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Share Studio Footage from Making of ‘Wild God’

The album is out in August

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds have shared behind the scenes studio footage from the making of their forthcoming album, Wild God.

In a four-minute video clip posted to YouTube, billed as the first part of a series of videos documenting the making of the record, Cave and the rest of the band are seen sketching out ideas, and recording parts of tracks. At one point, Cave can be heard joking that they “could make a couple of hours of ambient yoga music”, to which Warren Ellis replies: “That could be the new Grinderman record.” You can watch the video below.

Wild God, which spans 10 tracks, was first announced in March of this year. In a statement shared at the time, Cave said: “I hope the album has the effect on listeners that it’s had on me. It bursts out of the speaker, and I get swept up with it. It’s a complicated record, but it’s also deeply and joyously infectious. There is never a masterplan when we make a record. The records rather reflect back the emotional state of the writers and musicians who played them. Listening to this, I don’t know, it seems we’re happy.”

The band will follow the album’s release with a tour of the UK and Europe through September, October and November.

Bad Seed / PIAS will release Wild God on August 30, 2024.
