Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have produced the soundtrack for forthcoming Amy Winehouse biopic Back To Black.
The film, which you can watch a trailer for above, is directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, whose past credits include Nowhere Boy and A Million Little Pieces. It will be released in the UK on April 12, and stars Marisa Abela as Winehouse. Charting the late artist’s ascent to global fame and her relationship with husband Blake Fielder-Civil (played by Jack O’Connell), it also depicts her struggles with addiction.
Speaking about Cave and Ellis’ contribution to the film, Taylor-Johnson said: "Nick and Warren were the only musicians in my mind to score Back To Black. Over the years, I’ve listened to everything they’ve composed and longed to realise the dream of working together. Their sensibility as well as understanding of this story has led to a profoundly deep and moving film score."
Cave and Ellis are longtime collaborators, having worked together in bands such as as Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Grinderman, as well as, more recently, on the joint album Carnage. They’ve also scored a number of films together, including The Assassination Of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, The Proposition, The Road, La Panthère Des Neiges and, most recently, the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde.
