‘The Extremists’ Screening This Thursday

Film being shown in Manchester later this week

If you’re free this Thursday evening, then The Quietus strongly recommends you head along to a screening of The Extremists, the great film by independent movie-makers Brollywood Productions, in Manchester.

The film’s co-writer and director Austin Collings – whose previous works include Renegade: The Lives and Tales of Mark E Smith, says: "I like to see it as the cinema of unease; or horror politics. I’ve always been intrigued by mundane horror; by the awful everyday; terrible sandwiches made on damp white bread, with visible fingerprints; drinking weak cordial and being locked in the room with a dangerous, repetitive bore – that sort of horror; something closer to the Philip Larkin line – ‘Nothing, like something, happens anywhere’.

"I think this is the true horror of the human condition: the looming threat of Sweet F.A repeating its non-self, day after day!"

The Extremists will be screened at Green Room 54 Whitworth Street, Manchester from 7.30 – 8pm.
