Pete Townshend Confirms New Musical & Who LP

New album next year

The Who guitarist Pete Townshend has confirmed that The Who are working on a new album which could be released next year.

He has also discussed a new musical project called Floss that is set for debut in 2011.

In a blog he wrote for Thewho.com, Townshend revealed that he is "already having talks with producers in New York" about the musical, which will focus on a pub-rock musician who suddenly finds wealth and experiences marital problems.

He said: "In this case the songs are interspersed with surround-sound ‘soundscapes’ featuring complex sound-effects and musical montages. ‘Floss’ will be a son-et-lumiére musical piece, intended for outdoor performance, or arenas", he wrote.

"Several of the more conventional songs from ‘Floss’ will be featured on a forthcoming Who recording for release in 2010", he added.
