Tomorrow (June 27) sees writer, photographer and artist Lisa Jane Persky display her photography from the New York punk scene at London’s The Magic Gallery.
The documents of the city’s punk scene were captured between 1975 and 1977. Presence Dear: Lisa Jane Persky’s New York Underground provides a perspective of Persky’s life in the city during CBGB’s early years, including intimate shots of Blondie, Suicide, Divine, The Patti Smith Group and The Mumps.
Since the 70s, Persky’s work has appeared in Mojo, Vulture, The Iowa Review, BOMB and The Pitchfork Review. She is currently writing a book on growing up with bohemian culture between the Beat and Blank Generation.
For more information on the exhibition, you can visit The Magic Gallery’s website here. The exhibition is free.
