Soap&Skin, the project of Austrian Anja Plaschg, returns with a new track and album

Soap&Skin is the solo project of Anja Plaschg who first emerged in 2009 with her brand of off-kilter pop on the album Lovetune for Vacuum. Her third album for PIAS is due at the end of the month, and premiering above is ‘Surrounded’ which features on the record.

"I wrote the main parts of this song twelve years ago and often played it live as a piano version, but I would never hit the high note with my voice and always felt that I wasn’t ready," Plaschg says. "It’s about collective desire, being surrounded and consumed by the unreleased. It’s about deadlocked patterns being released into the consciousness, which is really what [new album] From Gas to Solid / You Are My Friend is all about."

From Gas to Solid / You Are My Friend is the first album in six years from Soap&Skin. Having retreated from making music for a short period to escape increased media attention following her breakthrough in her native Austria, parenthood soon extended her break.

The album is due out via PIAS on October 26. You can pre-order it here.
