The Quietus is pleased to hear that tonight’s episode of The Black Cab Sessions USA for Channel 4 is stopping off at New Orleans in a tour of different musical cities in the States.
The show is visiting The Big Easy to discover what is going on seven years after the impact of Hurricane Katrina while the choice of guests has been inspired by HBO’s excellent TV drama Treme.
Stars from the worlds of Nawlins funk, soul and bounce include Kermit Ruffins, Trombone Shorty, Dr Michael White, John Boutte, Chris Thomas King, Jubilee and Big Freedia.
A spokesman explained the ethos behind the series: "Black Cab Sessions USA is a journey which aims to discover the musical heartbeats of some of America’s most famous towns. We present some of the key personalities in each town and ask them why they live there and how it contributes to the sounds they make. This is all presented in the most intimate of settings – the back of a London cab."
