Jakuzi have unveiled ‘Geriye Dönemiyor’, the opening track from their upcoming debut album, entitled Fantezi Müzik, and you can check it out above.

The Turkish duo comprises of Kutay Soyocak and Taner Yücel, with the project being an attempt to move away from their previous punk and garage projects. The pair rose to prominence in Istanbul’s vibrant underground music scene and are now hoping that their debut can change wider perceptions of contemporary Turkish music.

While the band are heavily influenced by Turkish pop, they also take inspiration from Western genres, ranging from krautrock, disco and post-punk. Yücel, the band’s bass player, says that the band are wanting to bring synth-wave back to its glorious heyday.

He explains: "Jakuzi’s mission is the essence of the earliest wave bands – wanting to express to their listeners that emotional songs can still be made for dancing, and that celebration and physical expression aren’t limited to shallow or dumbed down pop music."

Jakuzi will release Fantezi Müzik on March 24, via City Slang. The pair will play London’s Shacklewell Arms on June 1, and you can get more information on that here.
