The 22-disc set takes in more than 100 previously unreleased recordings, as well as 11 films and other material

Neil Young has shared details of the third instalment of his long-running Archives box set series.

Covering an 11-year period in Young’s extensive discography, Archives Vol. III (1976-1987) collects almost 200 songs, more than 100 of which are previously unreleased. The 22-disc set features 17 CDs and five Blu-rays. Featured across the latter are 11 films, four of which are previously unreleased.

Of the songs featured across the CDs, 15 are entirely unreleased and unheard compositions, while a further 121 are unreleased versions of previously released tracks. The box also includes a 176-page book and a poster.

The first release in the Archives box set series came out in 2009 and covered a nine-year period from 1963 until 1972. The second followed in 2020, and covered Young’s discography from 1972 until 1976.

Reprise will release Archives Vol. III (1976-1987) on September 6, 2024.
