Ace “heavy rock power trio” Nazoranai are set for three UK dates at the beginning of July.
Formed in 2011, they comprise Sunn O)))’s Stephen O’Malley on bass, Japanese rock and drone veteran Keiji Haino on guitar, synth and vocals and Australian multi-instrumentalist Oren Ambarchi on drums. The group merges the eclectic creative output of O’Malley, Haino and Ambarchi to perform intense live shows, capturing the energy and ear-shattering capabilities of the musicians. Having already worked together in Sunn O))), O’Malley and Ambarchi add their syncopated bass-heavy, cymbal-washing chemistry to Haino’s vocal leadership, creating a distinct sound that draws on influences from psych rock to drone metal.
Performing last in support of 2011’s debut self-titled EP (artwork above), these shows are rare opportunities to see the trio in action performing their noise-worshipping, metal-infused space rock. Nicholas Bullen will be in support at the Birmingham show, launching his new album Component Fixations, while the trio are also supported by the psych-jazz experimental Flower Corsano Duo at their London show – have a look at the dates below:
