A number of scores for Naruto – the long-running anime series and film franchise – are to be released digitally for the first time outside Japan.
As Pitchfork reports, Milan Records is overseeing the digital distribution of 19 albums, which include Toshio Masuda’s soundtracks to the original Naruto television series and corresponding films, as well as Yasuharu Takanashi’s scores for the Naruto: Shippuden sequel series and movies, and his work for the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations series and Boruto: Naruto The Movie. All 19 titles will be available for streaming from Friday (September 24).
Naruto started as a manga series in 1999, written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It made the jump to its anime series adaptation in 2002, and follows the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who is on a quest to become the Hokage, the leader of his village.
